Well bloggers, Friday is here, thank God. I love Fridays and so look forward to the weekends, as most people do. However, occasionally we all encounter down days and even down weekends. They just seem to come with life. Maybe your encountering a down day and not really looking forward to the weekend. If that's the case let me encourage you to rise above whatever is holding you down and back from enjoying your day and weekend.

One of the ways that we overcome depression, sadness, disappointment and what I call bad hair days is through prayer and worship. When we focus on God in prayer or worship, God responds. That's part of having a relationship with God and when God shows up, things change. So if your boats being tossed to and fro in the storms of life, invite Jesus into the boat and He will calm the storms.

Today, October 15th, 2009 on television almost all the news stations were carrying a story about a boy in a balloon. It seems that the father had created this huge balloon filled with helium and it came loss from it's ties and took off. One problem, rumor had it that a six year old boy was inside the balloon. Well as the nation watched the balloon travel some 25 plus miles through many counties reports said that at one point the balloon rose to as much as 7,000 feet. However later reports stated that it was around 3,000 feet. Eventually the balloon landed in a field some two hours later and rescuers found that no boy was inside (Thank God).
As it turns out the boy was never inside the balloon, was never in danger and was hiding in fear of getting in trouble. (Understandable),

My point for sharing this is because as our nation watched this all unfolding and I'm sure that everyone was deeply concerned for the six year old boy. But the reality was and is, that the boy was never in the balloon.

Although all turned out great and the six year old boy is fine. Just imagine that almost 100% of the nation watching was convinced that a boy was in the balloon. While there is so much good in the news, it also goes to show the power of news and how easily a situation can grab the attention of an entire nation, even when what appears to be, is not.

Fill your life and home with blessings by simply proclaiming God's Word. You see, when you align your words with God's word, blessings will come to you. However if you fill your life and home with fear, worry, concern, anxieties, and complaining, you will reap the fruit of those words spoken. Therefore, speak God word over your life, family and home and you will find God's favor flowing.

Remember, there is power in the tongue, therefore use that power for good.

Nasty words, however some people just cant stop. They complain about everything and sometimes everyone. It doesn't matter how much money they have, how many things they have or what the seasons is. They complain and complain and are never happy.

Just read a news report that shares that a Italian scientist has reproduced the Shround of Turin and says that it proves definitively that the linen Christians revere as Jesus Christ's burial cloth is a medieval fake.

Personally, I never put much thought into the Shroud of Turin, however I would like for the scientist to explain something to me. Where did all the space come from that the solar systems and universe is within. Even if you apply the big bang theory. Where did the very space for the big bang come from. In other words, how can something come from nothing?

I was born in the United States, in California. Over the last 50 years I have seen many changes come forth, some that are good and some that are bad. Looking back over all the seasons, I remember the days when you could drive for hours and hours and never experience traffic. That was along time ago.

I also remember the local hardware stores, bicycle shops, lawnmower shops, mom and pop businesses, and the local grocery stores. Things were different in those days. You could actually get your gasoline pumped, your oil checked and your windows cleaned when you purchased gasoline. People seemed to care. However, today it's all about business, money, profits, and rush, rush, rush.

Times have changed, our communities have changed, and life has become more stressful for many. Somehow, I think we have lost touch with what matters or we have been led down a road to what only matters to some.

Hopefully America will return to what she once was.

Friday, October 2nd, 09. Filipinos are bracing for more strong powerful winds and rains from a second typhoon in just eight days. News reports share that ten's of thousands are fleeing from low lying areas and that cleanup operations have been suspended in the flooded capital area. It seems that more potential destruction is on the way as mother nature takes another turn.

Please pray for the people of the Philippines, that God would intervene and that lives would be saved.

There are some great social blogs and networks out there. Of course there are also times when debates unfold and things get somewhat nasty. And as with all online stuff, there's the down right ugly. Social networking can be fun, a great way to stay in contact with friends, family and also meet others online. There are also some great Christian sites out there that are very well maintained and there's a lot less ruff talk and down right nasty posts and comments on the Christian sites. However and again, there are some intense scriptural and religious debates that do unfold.

I love blogs. I can share openly, place posts on various topics and also moderate the comments. Over the years I have had to reject only a small portion of the comments I have received. I have a forum that I finally had to literally moderate all registrations just to stop all the spamers, most of which were pornography sites.

I guess it boils down to the fact that there's the good, the bad and the downright ugly out there. Whatever your social networking likes and dislikes are, be wise and please safe guard your children from all the potential negative content.

America is truly a beautiful country. Yes we have difficulties as with most countries, however I am speaking of the countries landscape. There is so much to see, and so many wonderful states to visit. Over the years, I have traveled all the states except Alaska. I've seen the Grand Canyon, Lake Mead, Lake Havasu, Niagara Falls, The Rocky's, The Tetons, The Colorado River, and have stayed in national parks, camp grounds and at lakes throughout the United States. I've traveled 100's of thousands of miles on the Interstates of the United States as a child growing up and as an adult. From the West Coast, to the Midwest to the East Coast, America is truly a beautiful country. I couldn't even begin to share all that I have seen.

Thank you God for such a beautiful country, for all the wonder, beauty and breath taking scenery. Thank you for the beauty of your creation.

TBN is one of them and there are numerous programs, preaching and teachers to watch. They even have some great kids and youth programs. CBN is another great program to watch. Depression is crippling. It hinders us from pressing forward, finding victory and becoming all that we are called to be. Usually depression sneaks up on us over periods of time. Many are the afflictions of depression. So what are the root causes of depression. One is sin. Sin is like a wide broad path that leads us into seasons of depression. One doesn't see it coming until it has arrived. Now multiply that depression with a room filled with people that are struggling and that have lost hope. Yes, that have lost hope, even faith, even trust, and especially confidence.

Have you ever noticed how within many arguments, there are desires, wants, needs and many times within those desires are selfish motives? Other times what seems to surface is that one person feels that the other person is not meeting thier demands. It's almost like a fight that erupts for control and every sense of reality and truth ceases to exist. It's like the flesh, the lust of the flesh and fleshly desires take over, erupt in a argument and burn like a mighty flame.

Peace is overtaken by hostilities, faith is over ran by words, Kingdom principles are thrown out the door as the mouth speaks forth the abundance of the heart. I'm not feeling all that well right this moment. My daughter just disobeyed her mother, not for the first time over a specif issue, but around the 10 in the last couple of hours. I don't like correcting my daughter and that's because she just a child. She's pretty good most the time, yet she does have this stubborn rebellious thing going on lately. So, right now she's standing in the corner. I gave her a whole 3 minutes time out and in the last minute she's asked 5 times if she can get out of the corner.

As her Father, I give her my love, I encourage her, care for her and reward her when she does well. We play together, laugh together, and have lots of fun together. I spend quality time with her teaching her, and just doing some of the things she loves to do. However of lately I'm finding this new role, one that I have yet to walk in or had to walk in. Discipline, correction and sometimes a little tough love.

Our Heavenly Father chastises those whom he loves, He prunes us at times cutting away the bad branches so that we can be more fruitful.

We see the images on television almost weekly and hear the stories of millions going hungry. What amazes me is that we can spend billions on space programs, spend billions on wars, and spend endless dollars on other things, yet people die of starvation. I've often wondered how many lives could have been saved through food programs on the amount of money spent on the Iraq war.

Still there is a world food problem and countless thousands go without food from day to day to include children. Thank God for organizations like Feed The Children and others that address the problem. Thank God for those who do try and address the problem, those that look, see and do something about it.

Is there anything that we can't do, if we just set out to do it? I think that's the true problem.

I do not believe that it's God's Will for people to suffer from headaches. I realize that sometimes do to medical reasons people get headaches, however when I apply the scriptures to headaches I do not see them as a part of God's plans and purposes. In the word of God it states that God gives peace and rest to his children. I don't see headaches as a part of peace or rest. Now off course if your having tooth problems and end up with a headache that's another deal.

You see I have a friend that suffers from migraine headaches. They get so bad that you can see the pain in his face and see the affects of them. Yet my friend has also shared with me that he hears voices, and at one time believed that the Holy Spirit told him that he had blasphemed the Holy Ghost and was going to hell. His wife has shared with me that there have been times when he's literally lost his mind, over ran with fear, paranoia, delusions and other mental problems. These conditions, situation and circumstances are not of God. Another scripture that comes to mind is that "God is not the author of confusion" and migraine headaches and the above lead to confusion.

Each weekend we attend service as a family on Saturday evening and Sundays. There's one service Saturday evening and two services on Sunday. I've been noticing that the Saturday evening service seems to fluctuate with regards to attendance and Sunday's second service has lost about half the attendees. No doubt that the financial crunch is affecting many areas of life to include church attendances. As I'm sure that you are aware of, churches function on tithes and offerings. It cost a lot of money to operate a church. There are building rents, sometimes property loans, utility bills, insurance policies, payrolls and all sorts of financial responsibilities, plus caring for the poor, the widows, and in some cases church members that have fallen on hard times.

I've often pondered the church's of today compared to the days of the Apostles and the early church. Somehow, I just don't believe that Jesus intended for church to come with huge financial overheads, and to fall into bondage to financial matters. Is it possible that we have gotten off track?

Have you ever noticed how the noise of life can hinder you, rob you of God's peace and rather than the storms of life being calmed, it's as if the noise of life sounds loudly? Life can be challenging and the worries of life can ring loud. Let me encourage you to let go and let God. To simply lay all your burdens down before the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to bring freedom, silence and stillness to you. Take time and make time to worship God, to lift your heart and voice up to the Lord and experience God love and the Kingdom raining down upon you.

Blessings are found when we lay our burdens down and give everything to God in times of prayer and worship. Kingdom blessings.

Ouch! I've been sitting here trying to write a post and nothing seems to flow. I thought of writing a piece about the state of the country, however too many situations came to mind. I guess I could write a piece about the slam up job the presidents doing, however that could bring way too much debate. Then there's that long lost dream regarding the church that I attend, but just the thought of that bores me.

Wow! that sure seemed to flow out of nowhere and considering it's Saturday and we weekly attend Saturday evening services at that very same church, I'd say my spirit's crying out for something more than the same old same old. Now, don't get me wrong here, I've been attending the same church for almost 9 years now faithfully every Saturday and Sunday. I have served in various ministries and capacities over the last almost 9 years and enjoyed each and every moment of it. So why the boredom?

Is it because I've changed, lost my vision, lost my faith, or lost that inner compassion for God and His people? No. Is it because many of the original members have left and moved on? No. Is it because the worship has changed, or the preachings getting stale? No. So what is it? In all honesty I can't share all the true reasons why other than to say, that which was once built on the Rock, a sure foundations, seems to have changed and I never liked the sandy shores of the beach. Actually, that last line came from a dream I recently encountered.

Time to pray for restoration.

Summer is almost over, not that the weather is agreeing. Soon winter will be upon many of us and with that comes some great holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas. As your summer comes to a close and winter breaks forth, may the very love of God fill your life, family, home and holidays. May you experience all of God's love, goodness and provision for you and your family. May your Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays be filled with joy.

Is there someone that you've lost contact with? Maybe a old high school friend, maybe a old co worker, maybe a relative or close close family member? We all get busy and the freeway of life just seems to consume our time. Grandparents, uncles, aunts, best friends and people that we've spent time with just seem to fall onto the back burners of our life. Many times we are reminded of those people in thought. We make plans to contact them, but life's freeway once again consumes us. Maybe the Holy Spirit is putting someone on your heart right now. Take time and make that call. You just might put a smile on some one's face.

Many times those words fall into the ears of others who pour out gasoline on the fire. Before you know it, everyone's having a bon fire. Gossip and slander are not Kingdom seeds. They are seeds of the flesh, the carnal mind and they empower the forces of darkness.

The Battlefield Of The Mind

Do you occasionally encounter nagging thoughts, fear and anxiety? If so, know that we all occasionally do. However if you are finding your days and life being ruled by nagging thoughts, fear and anxiety. Let me encourage you to call upon the name of Jesus. For Jesus can set you free and deliver you from such things. I also encourage you to find a local church and start attending.

Christian's are being persecuted in many countries around the world. I see more and more news reports and stories on Christian programs about this all the time. Of course, it's been going on since the days of the Apostles and before. Jesus spoke of persecutions and Jesus was well aware of persecution and familiar with it.

Let me encourage you to pray for our brothers and sisters around the world. Pray for the missionaries around the world, the evangelists and those planting churches in foreign lands.

It is unfortunate that America has strayed so far from God. Today we are seeing the fruit of such which started out as seeds sown, watered and that have grown and produced such fruit.

Return America, return to the Lord, His ways and the calling that was placed upon you in your birth.

Yet isn't that the way it is when somethings going well. All the sudden every one's on board trying to sink the ship. They didn't build it, they didn't launch it and they didn't do any of the work. They just want a piece of it and a free ride.

Do you hear it ticking. If you listen carefully you will hear the sound. Picture a hour glass with the sand slowly sifting through. Silence, silent, quiet and then at that selected determined time, things will be put into motion. Time is running out.

The Story Of The Tuna And The Sardines

In the summer of 1905, on the shores of central California, the fishing town of Monterey, suffered a very great economic blow.

Monterey is a picturesque community, 100 miles south of San Francisco. It is situated on the great Monterey Bay.

The Monterey Bay, gave to the city of Monterey all the bounty of the ocean. For decades Monterey fishermen brought back the fruit of the sea, the fish, that fed millions of people in America.

The backbone of this great fishery, and therefore of the economy in Monterey, was the annual catch of sardines.

These sardines were captured, brought to port, and then to Cannery Row – a row of fish canning operations lining the Monterey beach. There, of course, the sardines were packed into silver cans, wrapped in a red and black paper seal declaring them to be high-quality sardines from Monterey, California. They were then shipped throughout America and the world.

And the economy was good.

But, in the summer of 1905, something terrible happened. An economic disaster of unprecedented proportions happened to this bustling fishing town.

The disaster was this: the fishermen and their many boats, and many employees, simply over fished the sardine population. They did it to such a degree, that the sardines couldn’t reproduce their stock – and, suddenly, sardines simply disappeared from the fisherman’s nets! They were gone! And with them, were also, apparent to everyone, the good times for people in Monterey.

But – and this is a very important but – this was not the end of the story. A very great and ominous disaster had happened on their watch, but now something wondrous and hopeful, also took place on their watch.

Here is what, actually, happened: first, the people of Monterey and their churches, prayed. Now, whether you believe in prayer or not, that is secondary to the story. My duty is just to give hope and tell you how the story turned out, in actual history.

Most of the ship owners in Monterey doubled as their own ship captains. There were no big corporate fleets. It was mostly private fishermen who had built their fishing business to the level of having a ship or two, and going out daily and bringing the fish back. They worked hard at it, and they became better and better at what they did, and therefore became more and more successful.

But the sea had always helped them. Now that the sardines were gone, what next? What would happen to the economy, to the ship owners and captains, and to all the crews and their families?

The captains of the ships talked among themselves. As they talked, they told tales that they had heard long ago, about schools of great fish, that a Monterey fisherman and his ship and crew had once found.

But, these great fish, which were only known by the thin thread of perhaps a tall tale, were caught as far out as 200 miles from the shore! No Monterey fisherman and his crew, at least for decades, had gone beyond 20 miles!

No one ever dared to go that far! It had not yet entered the imagination of the people.

They had the vessels for it, and the crews. Now what they needed was some bold and intrepid captains, who would dare to go farther into deeper waters, than anyone ever had before.

And, in a true to life story, several believing captains, with their valiant ships and willing crews, set out to find out if the tales of these great fish had any truth to them.

They went fifty miles. Then eighty miles. Then over a hundred miles. But approximately one hundred and fifty miles out, they saw “boiling water” – a strange occurrence on the surface of the water that far out in the middle of the sea.

The captains and their crews, decided to fish these “boiling waters.” For their efforts, they began to pull in yellowfin tuna anywhere from 100 to 300 pounds! And there was no end to them!

Now, dear reader, understand that until this date in history, no one in the entire world had ever eaten tuna. Well, maybe some long ago sea captain and his crew had. But for the most part, tuna had never been known before. It had never been seen or eaten!

So, the intrepid sea captains and their fishermen returned home to Monterey with great good news – and a big load of great fish!

Think about it. Sardines were only 4 to 8 inches long, and now the fishermen replaced them with tuna that were 4-8 feet long! The sardines weighed a half-pound at best, and the tuna weighed up to three hundred pounds. In fact, later, as fishermen found the will to go farther, they caught bluefin tuna, that weighed up to 1500 pounds!

Thus, by being willing to go further than anyone had gone before and by choosing to act in new ways rather than just sit and suffer, although the economy went down with the sardines – now it went up with the tuna! Following what might have been just a tall story by an old salt, turned out to give the people of Monterey a true, and much greater, story. They introduced tuna and tuna fishing to the world. Their ships got bigger. Their crews got paid more. More tourists came to Monterey. The little bustling fishing didn’t go down with the sardines!

Somehow, the town, its people, and its economy all got a new lease on life. They grew. They prospered. And – they fed the whole world to a far greater degree.

In that summer day of 1905, when the sardine stock fell and the bottom dropped out of the sardine business, it shook everybody up. But, they said their prayers, decided to go further than ever before, chose to “seek a greater story” – and, however combined elements made it happen – tuna, much larger than sardines, and a tuna catch, much greater than the total sardine catch had ever achieved, was brought into the history, and to the palates, of the entire world.

The economy recovered and boomed.

My friends, could it be possible that right now, this very day, that even as you experience the loss of something you long felt secure and that you built your hopes on, just a little farther ahead, with a little willingness to keep your chin and morale up, exploring a little further, pursuing a greater, not lesser, story for you and yours, we might ourselves see our “sardines” not just gone, but our own kind of new, far greater, “tuna” right in front of us replacing our loss with something much better?

I believe that people with the American dream, don’t just get better dreams. They get a better story. It comes complete with the faith, the new vision, the will to try, the solid meat of the fish, the adventures, and the tale to tell all our children about.

The measure of something great is that greater things still come out of it.

Say your prayers, stoke the embers of your dreams and visions. Listen to wise stories. Make your minds and ships go further into the ocean of the Spirit – and I believe either you yourself, or some intrepid captains, are going to come back with the equivalent of boatloads of silver tuna in our time – together with directions how you can get a lot more of them.
